Check out these amazingly simple tips to keep your health in check and your energy levels up this summer.

Summer may spell fun, frolic and energy for you, and it may be the perfect time to slather on the sunscreen and flaunt off those new shades you just bought, but don’t let the intense summer heat get you down. Make sure your short picnic with your family isn’t spoiled by sunstrokes, dehydration and fungal infections.

Save your Health this Summer Stay Cool

One of the most important points to note to keep your health in check this summer is to maintain your liquid uptake. Make sure your body doesn’t lack water and the important electrolytes. Drink plenty of water and other liquids like buttermilk and coconut water to keep yourself cool. Avoid going out if the heat is too harsh.

Eat Fresh

The basic idea is to eat fresh foods this summer. Stick to lighter and watery fruits and veggies- watermelon, mangoes, cucumbers, yellow squash, cherries, zucchini, blueberries, peaches and tomatoes are great choices. Most of them are packed with antioxidants that protect your body from free radical (and sun) damage, and also keep your digestive system healthy.

Relax

It is easy to get caught up in the hustle bustle of life and not find time for yourself. This summer, make it a point to plan a trip with your family and relax and pamper yourself. If you just can’t seem to avoid work, try and get at least 30 minutes every day to relax and de-stress yourself- believe it or not, it actually works wonders in improving your energy levels and overall health.

Skip the CAC

CAC stands for caffeine, alcohol and cigarette. If you have been looking for some motivation to skip these, now’s the right time to do it. During summers, your body needs to be completely hydrated, and alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine are known to dehydrate the body and parch your skin. So don’t be surprised if you look years older than you actually are, stick to the naturals this summer.

Get Smart

The basic idea behind staying healthy is ‘feeling’ healthy. Opt for loose fitting and comfortable clothes in summer and keep yourself cool and protected from the sun’s heat. Take a bath often and make sure you don’t eat street foods. They are more likely to carry microbes that may cause digestive system problems. Avoid overeating and stay away from fried foods.
